Lake Sipe

Lake Edward Sipe, age 88, of Bartow, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at his home.

Born August 21, 2014, at Bartow, he was a son of the late Harry Edward and Violet Francis Slayton Sipe.

Lake was a retired machinist with the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in World War II, and a member of the VFW. He was a member of the Durbin Church of the Brethren and the Pocahontas County Honor Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Geraldine Sparks Sipe; and a daughter, Wilma “Joey” Francis Good.

He is survived by two sons, Lake Edward Sipe, Jr., and wife, Amanda, of Beverly, and Harry Edwin Sipe, and wife, Jerri, of Bartow; a brother, Lane; grandchildren, Harvey Findley, James Findley, Robbie Sipe, Andrew Sipe and Faith Sipe; seven great-grandchildren; and his dog and faithful companion, Bear.

Funeral service was November 14 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment was in the Boyer Cemetery with Military Honors by the Pocahontas County Honor Corps.
