Lady Warriors win away and at home

The Pocahontas County High School Lady Warriors soccer team played and won two games last week. Summaries of these games are provided below.
 
September 21 – won at Nicholas County

The Lady Warriors scored two goals in the first half and the Nicholas County Lady Grizzlies scored 0 for a halftime score of 2-0 Pocahontas. The Lady Grizzlies scored two goals in the second half to tie the game, but the Lady Warriors scored another goal for a final score of 3-2 Pocahontas.

Lady Warrior scorers were forwards Miranda Gum and Riley Pollack and midfielder Mallory McCoy.

Additional shots on goal were from forwards and midfielders Mileya Bircher, Eden Smith, Brianna Cochran and Ramona Hardy.

Defenders and midfielders Hardy, Andrea Alderman, Elizabeth Friel, Mac- kenzie Taylor and Baylee Nelson stole and/or cleared the ball out of the defensive field 27 times.
Goalkeeper Shayla Bennett saved 2 goals and allowed 2.

September 23 – won vs Midland Trail at PCHS

The Lady Warriors scored two goals in the first half and the Midland Trail Lady Patriots scored one for a halftime score of 2-1 Pocahontas. The Lady Warriors scored two additional goals in the second half while the Lady Patriots scored 0 for a final score of 4-1 Pocahontas.

Lady Warrior scorers were forwards Eden Smith and Mileya Bircher.

Assists on these goals were from forwards Erin Rider, Smith and Jasey Kramer.

Additional shots on goal were from forwards and midfielders Brianna Cochran, Ramona Hardy, Kramer, Mallori McCoy, Riley Pollack, Allyson Taylor, Rider and Riley Cassell.

Defenders and midfielders Mackenzie Taylor, Andrea Alderman, Elizabeth Friel, Ellena Bauserman, Kynlee Wilfong, Pollack, Cassell, Alexis Arbogast and Baylee Nelson stole and/or cleared the ball out of the defensive field 35 times.

Goalkeepers Shayla Bennett and Wilfong saved 4 goals and allowed 1.

The team’s record is 7 wins, 2 ties, 5 losses.
