Jesse Nicholas

Jesse D. Nicholas, age 77, of Arbovale, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Davis Memorial Hospital with his wife, Arlene Nicholas, at his side.

Born February 16, 1937, at Arbovale, he was a son of the late Edna Simmons. He was raised by his foster parents, the late Talvin and Mary Varner.

Jesse attended Green Bank High School and served in the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged. He had worked in Pennsylvania since 1965 and was employed by French’s Mustard. He and his wife retired and moved to Arbovale in 2002. He enjoyed attending flea markets and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Arlene Nicholas, of Arbovale; a son, Jerry Nicholas, and wife, Maria, of Stuart, Florida; four grandchildren, Joshua Nicholas, Timothy Nicholas, Jennifer Nicholas and Amy Nicholas, all of Stuart, Florida; a step-son, John Kellett, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; and a foster sister, Sadie Brown, of Arbovale.

Funeral service with a Military Honor Guard is July 3, 1 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Arbovale Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Meals-on-Wheels Program at the Green Bank Senior Citizens.
