Bring the family out for “Mon Forest Friday” – the final First Friday event of 2026.
Gather at Discovery Junction Friday, September 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Performing on stage will be the Browns Creek Nightcrawlers, an old-time string band trio featuring Mike and Mary Sue Burns, with guest, Jason Ashby. They will play a variety of traditional mountain songs and toe-tapping dance tunes.
Pocahontas Trails will be there with bikes (from Nature’s Mountain Classroom) and ramps to practice your riding skills. Or bring your own bike to decorate and join in the fun
West Virginia Rivers will present a video about the Mon Forest headwaters and efforts to protect them, with two showings – 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the Community Wellness Center.
As always, the event will include the Farmers Market and hands-on activities provided by community businesses and organizations.
