West Virginia Natural Resources Police
The West Virginia Natural Resources Police report that on Sunday evening, January 17, Sgt. Craig and Officer Hebb received a report about a sick or injured Bald Eagle in the Dunmore area of Pocahontas County.
The officers, with the assistance of property owners Johnny and Renee Hill, were able to track the eagle in the snow after dark until it was located perched about six feet off the ground.
The officers were able to get the mature female eagle off its perch to the ground safely, where it was secured.
The eagle, with the assistance of Jo Santiago, a raptor specialist, was transported for veterinary care.
It is expected to make a full recovery.
