The Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation and the Pocahontas County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Timber Industry Roundtable Thursday, October 19, at 1 p.m. at the Edray Business Park on Seneca Trail, north of Marlinton.  It is open to all interested parties.

The roundtable will address issues concerning, and possible solutions to, the underutilized timber and forestry industries in Pocahontas County.

An expert panel will be present to address some very difficult questions concerning the need to increase economic opportunities involving natural resources.

The panelists include:  Director and State Forester Barry Cook with the West Virginia Division of Forestry; Joe McNeel, Director of Appalachian Hardwood Center, WVU; Robbie Morris, Executive Director, Randolph County Development Authority and West Virginia Hardwood Alliance; West Virginia Senator Joe Plymale, Director of Center for Business and Economic Research, Marshall University Research Corporation; Clyde Thompson, Supervisor of Monongahela National Forest; and John Wayne, Consultant, Forester and Surveyor.

The GVEDC will hold its October Board of Directors meeting at 3 p.m.

All are welcome to stay for this meeting.

Please contact Peggy Crowder at GVEDC at 304-497-4300 or pcrowder@gvedc.com with any questions and to RSVP.
