Gibby “Gib” Sage, age 68, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg.

Born April 11, 1945, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late Ray and Mildred Sage.

Gib served in the United States Navy, receiving a “National Defense Service Medal” and was honorably discharged in 1967.

He played music in the Berkeley County area during the 1970s and that talent earned him a recording contract in Nashville, where he released four original songs. He was well loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sheila Sue Sage and Josetta Moore; and three brothers, Ray Lewis Sage, Terry Sage and Thomas Sage.

He is survived by a daughter, Lori Ann Sage, of Leesburg, Virginia; a son, Kale Sage, of Ohio; two sisters, Rebecca Vaughn and Charma Doss, both of Ohio; and his former wives, Shirley Gallaher Dearing and Theresa Brown Sage.

Funeral service is Monday, February 17, 1 p.m. at Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton with Pastor Shaun Clark officiating. Interment with Military Rites conducted by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps will be in the Gibson Cemetery near Slaty Fork. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A reception will follow at Mount View Assembly of God Church at Edray.

Due to inclement weather, flowers are not preferred. Memorials may be made to the Sage Family Fund, c/o Kimble Funeral Home, 18942 Seneca Trail, Marlinton, WV 24954 or c/o Lori Sage, 630 Radford Terrace, NE, Leesburg, VA 21076, to help with funeral expenses; or donations may be made to your local humane society.

Online condolences may be made at www.kimblefuneralhome.com
