Gene Darnell

Gene E. Darnell, age 74, of Buckeye, died Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital in Buckeye.

Born December 8, 1939, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late George and Carrie Bancroft Darnell. Gene was a driller in construction, an Army Veteran and was of the Nazarene faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James F. Darnell, Lonnie L. Darnell and George Darnell, Jr.; and two sisters, Lillian Buzzard and Madeline Gaydosh.

He is survived by his wife, Esther J. Writter Darnell; a sister, Linda S. Doss, of Marlinton; and a brother, Joseph R. Darnell, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

Funeral service was September 30 at VanReenen Funeral Home with Sam Felton officiating. Interment with Military Rites was in Mountain View Cemetery.
