1964 MHS Class Reunion

The Marlinton High School Class of 1964 held its 10-year class reunion July 12, 13 and 14, during Pioneer Days.

The Class first met on Friday night at the American Legion Hall for an informal get-together.

Saturday night, the class members and their guests were served a 7 p.m. dinner in the dining room at Watoga State Park. They were delighted that Mrs. Florence Bailey, former Senior Class Sponsor, of Milton, North Carolina, was able to attend the dinner.

In addition to Mrs. Bailey, the following other teachers attended one or more of the weekend activities: Mrs. Jane Ruckman Mott, Miss Anna Lee Dean, Elmer Friel, Charles Edward McElwee and Sam Brill.

The weekend consisted of many activities and concluded with a family picnic Sunday at the Shelter at Watoga State Park.

There were 67 members in the graduating class, three of whom are deceased. Thirty-six attended the 10-year reunion.
Our next reunion will be held in1979.

Additional class members attending the activities, but not included in the picture were Helen Pennington Harlow, Jack Nelson, Wayne Harper and Shirley Gallaher Sage.

DEATHS

William Wardell Harper, 72, of Proctorville, Ohio; born at Hillsboro, a son of the late Harry W. and Mary F. Auldridge Harper. Funeral from the Methodist Church at Proctorville with burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens near Barboursville.

Ralph (Cleve) Noonan, 22, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Clover Lick; funeral service from the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel at Arbovale with burial in the Stony Bottom Cemetery.

William Tolbert Waugh, 94, of Marlinton; born at Harter, a son of the late James B. and Euranie E. Dilley Waugh. Funeral service from the Stony Creek Presbyterian Church with burial in the Sharp Cemetery.

BIRTHS

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Everette Tinney, of Marlinton, a daughter, Debra Lynn.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Gibson, of Marlinton, a daughter, Stephanie Susanna.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stuart Remines, of Bluefield, a son, Charles Douglas.
