PCHS TRACK

The PCHS Warriors finished a solid second to Ceredo-Kenova in a field of 26 teams in the AA division of the Gazette Relays Saturday in Charleston.

Coach Wooddell said he felt that this was a very good performance in face of all the adversities. The boys had attended the Junior-Senior prom the night before and left Marlinton at 5:30 a.m. As if that were not enough, Mark Beverage, one of our fastest boys, did not make the trip. Only 12 boys participated in the event.

Dave Moore continued undefeated in the 880-yard run. Jim Rose won the discus with a toss of 147’ 55”. The 880-yard relay team, composed of Gary A. Cassell, Danny Cain, Jim Rose and Matt Withers placed first.

The 440 and mile relay teams finished second. Gary Sharp placed second in the pole vault, as did Matt Withers in the broad jump, and Gary A. Cassell placed third in the 440-yard dash.
