Are you ready for your local farmers market?
Finally – it’s that time of year again!
The Pocahontas County Farmers Market is a great way to provide fresh and healthy food for your family while supporting the local community at the same time.
The first market of the 2015 season will be held at our Marlinton location near the First Avenue Mini Park Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to noon.
We will have starter plants, flowers, some early produce, jams, jellies, fresh breads, baked goods, arts, crafts, PCFM cookbooks, totes and much more.
The Linwood Farmers Market will begin Friday, May 22, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and the Green Bank Farmers Market will start on Wednesday, May 27, from 3 to 6 p.m.
We will continue to accept SNAP, senior vouchers and WIC.
SNAP can be used from the time the market opens, while senior vouchers / WIC will become available after July 1.
A designated table will be set up for SNAP, doubling, customer surveys and guest information. Customers will receive a free promotional gift after completing our survey.
There will also be a weekly theme and occasional music for everyone to enjoy.
Our mentorship program will continue which will provide two $500 scholarships selected from applicants who register during the 2015 season. Eligible applicants must be a junior/ upcoming senior. Please contact Duane Gibson if you or someone you know is interested in this mentorship program.
Come, visit your farmers market and connect kids with real food, talk with local farmers, learn about nutrition and teach your family about the importance of community.
We hope to see you there!

New Vendors Welcome
Would you like to be a vendor at the local farmers market?
You can get get involved with the market at any time throughout the season. Just visit any of our three locations for more information.
Or if you are ready and want to set up a stand, pick up an application and information packet on your first day.
There is a $5 set-up fee, and a decision to make as to whether you want to be a “guest” vendor or become a member.
If you decide to be a guest, you will pay $5 every time you set up.
If you decide to become a member, the annual vendor dues are $40 for the entire 2015 season.
The farmers market has three locations and would like vendors to consider becoming a part of all of them.
