Elneta Friel

Elneta Mae Miller Friel, age 97, of La Grange, Ohio, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 26, 1919, at Woodrow, she was a daughter of the late Emory and Icie Miller.

Elneta was married to Sherman Austin Friel for 65 years. He preceded her in death June 25, 2001.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn Miller, John Miller, Winters Miller and George Miller; three sisters, Mary Moore, Arlene Brown and Logetta Blackwell; an infant daughter, Leota Mae; and infant son, Keith Frederick; a great-granddaughter, Bailee Ann Cromer; and a son-in-law, Richard Sharp.

She is survived by a son, Ray Friel, and wife, Helen, of Buckeye; daughters, Wanda Sharp, of Stephen City, Virginia, Annis Thompson, and husband, Woodrow, of Spencer, Ohio, Shirley Cromer, and husband, Alfred, of La Grange, Ohio, and Linda McCloud, and husband, Warren, of Elyria, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, who called her “Adle.”

Family will receive friends Friday, June 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home. Funeral service is Saturday, June 18, 11 a.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pocahontas Center, 5 Everette Tibbs Road, Marlinton, WV 24954; Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, 150 Duncan Road, Buckeye, WV 24924; or Campbelltown United Methodist Church, RR 1 Box 254, Marlinton, WV 24954.
