Dorothy LaRue

Dorothy “Dot” Hollandsworth LaRue, age 92, of Cornville, Arizona, died Thursday, Apri1 2, 2020, at her home.

Born September 30, 1927, in Hillsboro, she was a daughter of the late Denny R. and Anna J. Hollandsworth.

Dot attended school at Hillsboro through graduation. She worked in Moore’s Store in Hillsboro until marrying Charles B. “Bus” LaRue.

She traveled around the United States and in Newfoundland and Turkey while Bus served in the United States Army Air Corps and the United States Air Force. Following Bus’ retirement, the couple moved to Arizona.

Dot loved to hike and spent numerous days in the Grand Canyon, hiking rim to rim and floating down the Colorado River.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Juanita, Valerie and Louise; and two brothers, Ralph and Donald.

She is survived by her son, Charles Thomas LaRue, and wife, Sarah, of Flagstaff, Arizona; daughters, Valerie Hirschberg, and husband, Gary, of Sequim, Washington, and Donna Sue LaRue, of Cornville, Arizona; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Daniel, Bobby and Jerry.

Per her wishes, the body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
