Dennis Jackson

Dennis L. Jackson, age 86, of Elyria, Ohio, died peacefully Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at West Bay Center in Westlake, Ohio.

Born July 18, 1928, in Marlinton, he was a son of the late Dennis and Mary Jackson.

Dennis served with the United States Army and was part of the Occupation Troops, stationed in Japan. He was employed for more than 30 years at Ford Motor Company, retiring from the Avon plant in 1990. He was a member of Elyria VFW Post 1079 and Elyria American Legion Post 12.

He enjoyed golfing and golfing excursions with his wife and hunting and fishing with his sons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David L. Jackson, in 2007; a brother, Donald Jackson; and sisters, Della Layman, Opal Weatherholt and Creola Boling.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy L. Jackson; sons, Danny Jackson, and wife, Debra, of Vermilion, Ohio, Douglas Jackson, and wife, Karon, of Marlinton, and Donald Jackson, and wife, Mari, of South Amherst, Ohio; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Stella Mundell, of Staunton, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was September 15 at Brookdale Cemetery with The Rev. Dalton D. Love officiating. Elyria VFW Post 1079 presented Military Honors.

Memorials may be made to the Pocahontas County High School Golf Team, 271 Warrior Way, Dunmore, WV 24934.
