According to Pocahontas County Circuit Clerk Connie Carr, the following hearings were held January 16 before the Honorable Judge Robert E. Richardson:

An adjudication hearing was held in the case the State vs Catherine L. McDaniels, 39, of Slaty Fork. The court had accepted the defendant’s plea agreement in March 2018. As part of that agreement, the court withheld sentencing to allow McDaniels to enter the Southeastern Drug Court Program. If she failed to complete the program, she was to return to the court to be sentenced on three charges. The court was advised that she had failed the program, and the court adjudged her guilty. Sentencing and disposition is set for March 13.

Marissa E. Mann Bennett, 23, of Renick, tendered a written plea agreement to the court wherein she pleaded guilty to the lesser included offense of child neglect with substantial risk of serious bodily injury and DUI with minor in the vehicle. The State moved to dismiss the charge of driving under the influence and driving revoked. The matter was referred to the probation department for pre-sentencing investigation. Sentencing and disposition is set for March 13. Bennett remains on current bond.

David Wayne Sharp, 56, of Marlinton, tendered a written plea agreement to the court wherein he pleaded guilty to delivery of a Schedule II controlled narcotic substance. The court deferred adjudication and Sharp was referred to the Southeastern Drug Court Program with normal terms and conditions, including home incarceration.

Robbie C. Sipe, 26, of Bartow, tendered a written plea agreement to the court wherein he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a Schedule II non-narcotic substance. Sipe was referred to the Southeastern Drug Court Program on diversion.
