It was a gorgeous day Saturday and several members of the Pocahontas County Farmers Market opened their stands for the first time at the new Cass location.

Located in East Cass, across from the Bear Creek Lodge, the Farmers Market will be open Saturdays, 2 to 5 p.m.

Spearheaded by Cass residents Nikki Alikakos and Alison Flegel, the new location will offer the same great wares found at all the Farmers Markets in Pocahontas County – fresh produce, artwork, crafts and live music.

“We’re looking for more vendors,” Flegel said. “It’s art, music, crafts – we’re really very open. We’re also going to try to get live music every Saturday, as well. We’re going to get some pickers down here and some people jamming out to kind of make it an open mic kind of thing.”

To join the Farmers Market, individuals pay annual dues of $40 which allows them to sell at any of the locations. Vendors may also pay $5 for just one day.

Anyone interested in joining the Farmers Market may contact presidents Jo Debra Gandee or Renee Picarsic.
