Carolyn Jean Callison Randolph, age 69, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, following a long illness.

Born September 3, 1947, at Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Samuel and Virginia Lee Beard Callison.

As a youth, Carolyn was active in her church youth group, church choir and area 4-H club. She was a 4-H All-Star, played in the Hillsboro High School band and was Salutatorian of Hillsboro High School Class of 1965. She was a 1969 graduate of West Virginia University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. In 1971, she received her Master’s Degree in Vocational Home Economics Education from West Virginia University.

Carolyn married Robert Lynn Randolph July 7, 1973 at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church. She and Lynn moved to Morgantown and lived there until 1977. While there, they attended Harner United Methodist Church. She was employed for eight years by West Virginia University as an Extension Agent – Home Economist in Lewis and Monongalia counties.

In 1977, the couple moved to Bruceton Mills, where they lived until 1984. They were members of the Bruceton Mills United Methodist Church. Carolyn was a Sunday School teacher and director of the Bruceton Mills United Methodist Church All Charge Choir.
Carolyn and Lynn moved back to Hillsboro in 1984 and purchased her parents’ farm. She enjoyed living where she grew up.

She was a member of the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church most of her life, and a past member of the church choir. For many years, Carolyn was active in Presbyterian Women and CEOs. For the past eight years, she attended the Spring Creek Presbyterian Church in Renick, where her husband serves as pastor.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert Lynn Randolph; a brother, Joel Callison, and wife, Stella, of Hillsboro; a sister, Jane Callison Crosby, and husband, Gary, of South Charleston; sisters-in-law, Joyce Shuman, of Lost Creek, and Nancy Nutter, of Clarksburg; brother-in-law, Russell Randolph, of Lost Creek; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held March 4 at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church with Dr. Sue Hollandsworth officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Church Cemetery.
