Blanche Howell

Blanche H. Howell, age 99, of Oswego, New York, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, with her family by her side.

Born in Valley Head, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Mary Daft Hannah.

Blanche attended Tygart Valley schools. She was employed with the Breneman-Hartshorn Shade Company, Oswego Candy Works and later retired as a cook from SUNY Oswego.

She loved to crochet and also loved to travel and go camping.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Howell in 1975; two brothers, Arthur Hannah and Kenneth Hannah; and a son-in-law, Reaburn Doyle in 2000.

She is survived by three children, Polly Doyle, of Oswego, New York, Mary Jo Lawton, and James William Howell, and wife, Betty, all of Ohio; a brother, Robert Hannah, of Oklahoma; two sisters, Margie Lambert, of Ohio, and Virginia Kindell, of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great- grandchildren.

Funeral service is Saturday, April 4, 3 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Oswego, New York. Interment will be in the New Haven Cemetery. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the Office of Aging, 70 Bunner Street, Oswego, NY 13126.
