Arnold O. Weiford passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, December 5, 2013, after a lengthy battle with COPD emphysema.

Born September 21, 1927, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late Ernest and Pearl Clark Weiford.

Arnold was a member of the Marlinton Presbyterian Church and graduated from Marlinton High School. He graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Political Science and Dr. of Jurisprudence. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

In 1954, Arnold returned to Marlinton to practice law for 17 years. He served in the West Virginia Legislature during the first Underwood Administration and was a life-long loyal Republican. In 1971, he was employed by the West Virginia Public Service Commission, retiring in 1988 as Chief Administrative Law Judge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Weiford; and sisters, Virginia Jones, and husband, Bob, and Dorothy Lou Curry.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Rae Robinson Weiford; a son, Jeffrey Weiford, and wife, Cindy; granddaughter, Emily Weiford; great-granddaughter, Cambrie Bennett; brothers-in-law, Arden J. Curry and John Robinson; and nieces and nephews, Susan Brasselle, and husband, Tom, Michael Curry, John Curry, and wife, Kelly, Shelley Robinson Flowers and Rick Griffin.

Arnold was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by Dr. Dominick Woofter and the support of his loyal friends at GoMart who made sure he received his daily Charleston newspapers after he could no longer drive; and to the morning coffee group at Tudors Biscuit World with the special attention of manager Joyce.

Final arrangements are being made by Ford Funeral Home in Bridgeport and VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Condolences may be made to 50 Berkshire Circle, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
