Anson Hatfield, Sr.

Anson Denver “Snookie” Hatfield Sr., age 79, of Marlinton, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital in Buckeye.

Born February 28, 1940, at Welch, and he was a son of the late Wheeler and Ruth Edna Belcher Hatfield.

Snookie was of the Baptist Faith. He was a coal miner and loved to coon hunt. He was a member of the Pocahontas/Nicholas County Coon Hunters Association on Droop Mountain.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Hatfield; and a daughter-in-law, Pam Hatfield.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judie Hatfield; a daughter, Sheri Alderman, and husband, Larry, of Beaver Creek; a son, Pete Hatfield, of Marlinton; four grandchildren, Steven Simpson, Cheryl Simpson, Janessa Bell and Bubby Hatfield; six great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; and a sister, Imogene Lambert, of Jacksonville, Florida.

In keeping with Snookie’s wishes, the body will be cremated and no service held.
