Jim Workman, of Hillsboro, was badly injured Saturday while trying to load a bull at the Denmar Farm. He was thrown and gored, suffering head and chest injuries. He was taken to Charleston Memorial Hospital and his condition is improving.

Last Wednesday Nicholas County High School captured a quadrangular track meet on the PCHS track on the strength of five first place finishes. In a very close meet, Nicholas County led the way with 69 1/2 points, followed by Cowen with 67 2/3 then came Pocahontas with 60 1/2 and Webster Springs with 41.
With Glen Bond, Kenny Arbogast, Gary Cassell and Tom Hill legging it out, our two mile relay team scored a first. Other first place finishers for Pocahontas were: Willie Sparks in the high jump, Jerry Stewart in the 100 yard dash and a strong 880 yard run by Jim Smith…

Quincy W. Scott, 77, of Buckeye, a son of the late James and Nancy Blake Scott. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Hillsboro.
Mrs. Mrytle May Tallman, 68, of Frost, a daughter of the late William and Frances Spencer Barkley. Burial in the Arbovale Cemetery.
