Hot Spiced Cider
1 qt. apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
1 whole nutmeg
1 orange, sliced thin
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Turn heat to low and simmer 5 to 10 minutes.
The longer the simmer, the stronger the flavor.
Strain, saving the orange slices for garnish.
Sweetened
Condensed Milk
1 cup instant nonfat dry milk
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup boiling water
3 Tbsp. melted butter
Combine all ingredients and mix well.
Put in blender and process until smooth.
Store in refrigerator until ready to use.
Makes about 1 1/4 cups – the same as a 14 oz. can.
Grandma’s Soft Sugar Cookies
1 2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. baking powder
3 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine all ingredients.
Beat until smooth.
Drop by tablespoon onto greased and lightly floured cookie sheet.
Lightly sprinkle each cookie with granulated sugar or sprinkles.
Bake at 450 º for 5 minutes.
