Attending a football-basketball camp at Camp Lynn, beyond Morgantown, last week were Billy Graham and Steve Jack, football, and Ivan Withers and Tom Clutter, basketball. Ivan Withers won a foul shooting trophy.

Four-H members from the Second Congressional District of West Virginia who attended the recent National Citizenship Short Course given in Washington, D. C. included in their tour a meeting with Congressman Harley O. Staggers. Attending from Marlinton were Harriet Johnson, Albert Smith, II, Inez Boggs and Sadi Hinds; Hillsboro – Martha I. Edgar, Lee McLaughlin and Johnnie B. Hill; Ronceverte – Grace McMillion; Webster Springs – John Martin, II, and Regena Pugh; Camden-on-Gauley – Fonda Hivick; Hacker Valley – Linda Carter; Alderson – Martha Fulks; Renick – Julian Wolfenbarger.
WOMAN’S CLUB
The annual spring luncheon of the Marlinton Woman’s Club was held in the dining room of the Country Store at Cass June 2 at one o’clock. The hostesses were Mrs. A. E. Cooper, Mrs. Layman Davis, Mrs. C. K. Dilley, Mrs. William Harper and Mrs. J. Z. Johnson. The program which followed the luncheon was inspired by the country store setting and featured a roll call response of magazine clippings dating back to the years 1900-1910 and a brief review of “The Good Old Days,” by David L. Cohn, presented by Mrs. Johnson…

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Donald C. Thayer, of Abingdon, Virginia, a daughter, named Melissa Dawn. The mother is the former Eleanor Ann Hannah, of Elk Route, Marlinton.
DEATHS
Dr. Marvin C. Smith, 88, of Hillsboro; born at Mill Point, a son of the late Joseph S. Smith and Abigail Curry Smith. Burial in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Robert W. Scott, 71, died of injuries received in an automobile accident on Beaver Creek. A son of George and Mary Scott; burial in the Emmanuel church cemetery.
Stewart Willis Hicks, 85, of Mountain Grove, Virginia; burial in the Mountain Grove Cemetery.
Harry L. Nicholas, 54, of Arthurdale; burial in the Preston Memorial Gardens.
Birchie McKinley Arbogast, 63, of Hermatite; born at Arbovale; burial in the Alleghany Memorial Park at Lowmoor, Virginia.
