Edible Landscaping Gardening workshop\r\n\u00a0WVU Extension will host an Edible Landscaping Gardening workshop Thursday, May 22, at 6 p.m. in the McClintic Library in Marlinton.\u00a0 \r\nThe workshop will feature new extension horticulture specialist Mira Bulatovic-Danilovich, who will discuss various gardening topics and issues and will focus on creating Edible Landscapes.\u00a0 \r\n\u00a0To sign up, call the WVU Extension Office at 304-799-4852.\r\n\r\nPocahontas County 4-H and FFA Livestock Quality Assurance Training\r\nAs part of a new requirement by the state 4-H and FFA organizations all youth with Beef, Dairy, Swine, Sheep, Poultry or Rabbit projects are required to attend an annual training to receive instruction on livestock quality assurance.\u00a0 This training is mandatory and participants who do not complete the training can no longer complete the project. Positions are still available to spend the summer weeks helping children maintain or gain reading skills as an AmeriCorps Mentor at the Marlinton Energy Express site. Mentors must be full-time college students or college-bound graduating high school seniors who are 18 years of age or older by June 12, 2014.\u00a0 In return for their 300 hours of service from June 12 to August 1, 2014, mentors receive a $1,850 summer living allowance and a $1,175 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award valid for up to seven years to pay for college tuition or loans.
