WV Small Farms Conference

The West Virginia Small Farms Conference will be held February 12-14 at the Charleston Civic Center. Conference schedule and registration are now available online. smallfarmcen ter.ext.wvu.edu/events/conference

State Teen Leaders
Weekend – March 24-26

Registration for State Teen Leaders Weekend is now open for all 4-Hers between the ages of 13 and 19.  (Participants must not be beyond their senior year of high school).  Registration information may be found at 4-hyd. ext. wvu.edu /events_forms/tlw and the online registration deadline is March 3.

Short Course on Sheep and Goat Industry

The West Virginia Shepherds Federation, the only statewide organization promoting the sheep and goat industries in West Virginia, will host a one day short course Saturday, February 11, at Camp Pioneer 4-H Camp in Beverly.

Speakers will cover topics such as how to prevent lambing and kidding problems and wintering the replacement ewe lamb/doe. Wildlife Services trappers will provide hands-on lessons about coyote control, as well as a talk on the benefits of participating in the National Sheep Improvement Program and tips on raising healthy, productive sheep and goats. Beneficial for small flocks or large commercial operations. Lunch will be provided free of charge. Preregistration is not required, but if you plan to attend, please email wvashepherds@yahoo.com or call 304-445-1516.

Directions: Turn off US Rt. 219/250 in Beverly; east onto Files Creek Rd, go approximately two miles, turn right on 4-H Camp Rd, go about one mile and the meeting facility is on the right.
