Pocahontas County 4-H & FFA Livestock Quality Assurance Training

As part of a new requirement by the state 4-H and FFA organizations all youth with Beef, Dairy, Swine, Sheep, Poultry or Rabbit projects are required to attend an annual training to receive instruction on livestock quality assurance.  This training is mandatory and participants who do not complete the training can no longer complete the project. In-county trainings are scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, and Tuesday, May 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Marlinton Municipal Building.  If you have any questions please call the WVU Extension Office at 304-799-4852.

Energy Express Deadlines

Energy Express service/employment opportunities are now available for the 2014 Marlinton Elementary Energy Express Site for four mentors and one community coordinator. To learn more about how to become involved or to request an employment application, call the WVU Pocahontas County Extension Office at 799-4852 or visit the Energy Express website at www.energyexpress.wvu.edu .

Dramas, Fairs and Festivals Applications

Dramas, Fairs and Festivals grant applications for this quarter are due in the Extension Office by May 1. If you have any questions or need an application form, please call the office at 304-799-4852.

County Round-up

All 4-Hers are invited to participate in this year’s County Round-up on Thursday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the McClintic Library in Marlinton.  If you wish to participate in the Visual Presentations, Public Speaking, 4-H Pledge, or the 4-H Creed contests, contact your 4-H club leader immediately.
