4-H and FFA Livestock Show and Sale
Pocahontas County 4-H and FFA members annual livestock show and sale Saturday, August 27.  The show will begin at noon and the sale will be that evening at 7 p.m.  We encourage everyone to come out and support the local 4-H and FFA youth and the culmination of their hard work with their livestock projects.  For more information please call the WVU Extension Office at 304-799-4852.
 
4-H & FFA Members Travel to the Fair
The West Virginia State Fair will be held this month, August 12 through 21, at the State Fairgrounds in Lewisburg, and many Pocahontas County 4-H and FFA members will exhibit their projects in the Youth Building.  4-H and FFA members will also be exhibiting their animal projects at the livestock and horse shows.  For more information on the State Fair of West Virginia please visit www.wvstatefair.com.

 Pressure Canner Testing
Pressure Canner Testing for canner lids with dial gauges is available in the Extension Office.  In order to have your canner tested, bring only your canner lids with dial gauges.  Free educational materials on food preservation are also available. Call the Extension Office at 304-799-4852 to schedule a time before canning season starts.
 
Pocahontas Beekeepers
Pocahontas County Beekeepers will meet Thursday, August 18, at 7 p.m. at the Marlinton Wellness Center.  Mark Lilly of the West Virginia Beekeepers will be our speaker.  Everyone is welcome. If you have bees or are interested in getting bees, feel free to attend.  For more information please call the WVU Extension Office at 304-799-4852.
