2015 County 4-H Camp Dates

Mark your calendars now for the 2015 County 4-H Camp which will be held July 20 through 24.

 

Youth Trapping Workshop

The WVU Extension Service is hosting a “Youth Trapping Workshop:  Get Caught up in Trapping” in the southern West Virginia region Saturday, October 1,  from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Smoot Elementary School in Western Greenbrier County. This will be a hands-on workshop and participants are asked to bring field clothes, boots and a camera.  The workshop is open to the first 25 registrants and registration must be confirmed by October 13 by calling Don Dransfield at the Monroe County Extension Office at 304-772-3003.  There will be a nominal $2 fee for the workshop.

Covered Dish Dinner

The Pocahontas CEOS clubs invite all current and potential new members to the annual Fall Covered Dish Dinner at the McClintic Library in Marlinton Tuesday, October 14, at 5:30 p.m. Games, fun activities, an arts and crafts display and a white elephant sale will be held after the meal.

Clubs Reorganizing

The Pocahontas County Community Educational Outreach Service Clubs (formerly the Extension Homemakers) are reorganizing now for the upcoming year.  The clubs meet monthly to participate in educational programs dedicated to helping members continue to learn, gain leadership skills, and inspire community involvement in a social setting.  If you would like to join one of the four clubs in Pocahontas County, please call the Extension Office at 304-799-4852.

 

National 4-H Science Day:  “Rockets to

the Rescue”

All 4-H members, families and friends are invited to this year’s National 4-H Science Day Open House at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory’s Science Center in Green Bank Thursday, October 9. Free pizza will be served at 5:30 p.m., followed by the “Rockets to the Rescue” experiment.

Youth will build and launch their own rockets and learn about rocket science and aerospace engineering.  To register or for more information, call 304-456-2150, or email sheather@nrao.edu.  Come join the fun!
