William Wilmoth

William Paul Wilmoth, age 88, husband of Louise Wilfong Wilmoth, of Staunton, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at his home.

Born January 13, 1928, in Durbin, he was a son of the late Paul Hiram and Mabel Clarie Judy Wilmoth.

William was a member of the Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren, Woodman of World and was a Veteran of the Merchant Marines and the United States Army.

In 1992, he retired from the Department of Corrections as Superintendent of the buildings and grounds department. Prior to his employment with the Department of Corrections, he was employed for many years with Western State Hospital.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by a son, Stephen P. Wilmoth, and wife, Elizabeth, of Forest, Virginia; two daughters, Diane S. Shifflett, of Dooms, Virginia, and Julie W. Sheffer, and husband, Keith, of Mt. Solon, Virginia; a brother, George K. Wilmoth, of Hamilton, Virginia; five grandchildren, Brian Shifflett, David Wilmoth, and wife, Emily, Michael Wilmoth and Jonathan Sheffer; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Wilmoth and Kate Wilmoth; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service was April 2 at the Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren with Pastor Galen Combs officiating. Interment was in the Augusta Memorial Park.
