William Lee McMann ~ Beverly Susanna McMann

William Lee “Bill” and Beverly Susanna “Susie” (nee Cross) McMann were killed in a car crash on Rt. 220 in Botetourt County, Virginia. Bill succumbed to his injuries at the scene Monday, August 26, 2024, and Susie died three days later in Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Bill was born March 9, 1952, in Marlinton, and was a son of the late Orr Lee and Helen Patterson McMann. He graduated from Marlinton High, Class of 1970. He was a mailman in Marlinton for more than 30 years and recently celebrated 40 years of sobriety.

Susie was born December 8, 1957, in Belington, and was a daughter of Yvonne Bedford Cross, and the late Henson Cross. She was a 1976 graduate of Philip Barbour High School. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent many years as a home room mother, president of the PTO, and in charge of their church’s Sunday School and Community Vacation Bible School.

Bill and Susie were married February 14, 1985 in Bath County, Virginia. They had two beautiful daughters, Natasha Lee and Brittany Sue.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Susie was preceded in death by her father; and two sisters, Marlene Thomas and Linda Everson; and a brother, Ricky Cross.

They are survived by two daughters, Natasha, and husband, William Hall, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Brittany McMann, and boyfriend, Michael Ward, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

In addition to their daughters, Bill is survived by a brother, Michael McMann, of Great Falls, Montana.

In addition to their daughters and her mother, Susie is survived by two sisters, Barbara Summerfield and Beuna Pomp; and a brother, Daniel Cross, all of Belington.

As per their wishes, there will be no funeral service.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pocahontas County High School Athletics and or the Pocahontas County High School Band.
