William Clendenen

William Ira “Bill” Clendenen, age 77, of Marlinton, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at his home.

Born September 6, 1937, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late Ira V. Clendenen and Beulah Zimmerman Clendenen Davis.
Bill was a member of Marlinton Presbyterian Church. For many years, he owned and operated the Home Products Market and Gulf service station in Marlinton. He was later employed as a truck driver by Pocahontas Construction, Burns Motor Freight and Boxley. He was a former member of Marlinton Town Council, Marlinton Volunteer Fire Department, Lions Club and Jaycees.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Sexton and Robert Clendenen.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon Ann Gladwell Clendenen, of Marlinton; sons, Randy Clendenen and Joe Clendenen, both of Marlinton; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Per his request, the body will be cremated. A memorial service was held August 26 at 2 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Rev. John McDonald officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Marlinton Rescue Squad or PMH Ambulance Service.
