Yams and Apples
2 17 oz. cans yams, sliced to ¾ inch
2 golden delicious apples, sliced
¼ cup raisins
1 cup apple juice
½ cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
¼ tsp. allspice
¼ tsp. cinnamon
2 Tbsp. butter
Prepare yams and apples and set aside.
Bring other ingredients to a boil for two minutes.
Layer yams, apples and juice mixture in a 1 ½ quart baking dish.
Grease aluminum foil and cover dish.
Bake at 400º for 40 to 45 minutes.
Grape Conserve

2 quarts grapes
6 cups sugar
¼ tsp. salt
1 cup black walnuts
Press to remove pulp from skin.
Boil skins for 20 minutes in just enough water to prevent them from sticking.
Cook pulp in its own juice until soft.
Put pulp through colander or sieve to remove seeds.
Combine with sugar and cook until thick.
Add nuts and salt.
Seal while hot.
Process in boiling water bath for 15 minutes.
Recipe may be doubled to make 7 pints.
