The Pocahontas County Warriors traveled to the home of the Cameron Dragons Friday night, and although it was the Dragons’ Senior Night celebration, the Warrior were there to play football.
The explosive Warrior offense was the first to strike, and on the third play of the game QB Wyatt Workman connected with WR J.D. Hensler with a 68-yard pass. Hensler’s kick was good and the Warriors were up 7 – 0.
The Warriors scored seven more TDs in the game, with RB Dalton Irvine and RB Morgan Mason combining for 316 yards on the ground for five TDs, and Workman’s 215 yards in the air for three.
The Warrior defense was equally impressive, giving up very little ground to the Dragons’ offense. There were no points on the scoreboard in the first quarter for the Dragons, and only three TDs for the night.
Final score 65-22.
Friday night’s win secured the Warriors a spot in the West Virginia Class A playoffs.
The #9 ranked Warriors will take on #8 Williams-town Yellowjackets at Williamstown Saturday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m.
