Warrior Boys win another one on the road

The Pocahontas County High School Boys Basketball team traveled to Franklin Monday night to take on the Pendleton County Wild Cats. The Warriors racked up another win there, 64 – 56.

“We played very good on the road,” Head Coach Tim McClung said. “And this was the first win we’ve had at their place in four years.”

The Warriors had four players in double digits: Logan Dilley with 17 points, Jarret McLaughlin with 13, Briar Wilfong added 12 and Elijah Robertson chipped in 10.

Hunter Shafer came close to a double figure night with nine points.

Leading rebounder in the game was Jacob Jones with eight, followed by Hunter Shafer and Logan Dilley with six each.

“It was a good defensive game,” McClung said. “We held them to five points in the first quarter, and we led the majority of the game. Our largest lead was 17 points, and theirs was a one-point lead. We also shot the ball very well. We were 49 percent on field goals.”

The team’s record now stands at 18 – 2.

The Warriors will host the Meadow Bridge Wildcats at home Thursday, February 22. JV will play at 5:45 p.m.; varsity at 7:30 p.m.

The evening will include a Salute to our Veterans.

Admission to the game is free for all veterans.
