Walter William Weiford, age 61, of Buckeye, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Born November 21, 1951, at Marlinton, he was the son of the late William Paul Weiford and Mary Elizabeth Graham Weiford.
Walt graduated from Marlinton High School in 1969, received his degree in psychology from Marshall University and his Juris Doctor degree from West Virginia University. He established a law office in Marlinton, and served as Prosecuting Attorney of Pocahontas County for 17 years.
He was a member of Marlinton Presbyterian Church, member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #127, member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #97, and was currently serving on the Board of Directors of Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
Walt was an accomplished musician, playing first in a rock band, The Not Quite Five, and later in the bluegrass band Stompin’ Crick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Jean Weiford Dunbrack; his maternal grandparents, Walter and Addie Graham; and paternal grandparents Detimis Notley and Mary Alice Kellison Weiford.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Wickline Weiford, of Buckeye; a daughter, Jillian Weiford Lacasse, and husband, Andrew, of Buckeye; and niece, Addie Dunbrack Pennington, of Barboursville.
A private family service was held October 26.
