Violet Louise “Tommy” Ryder, 86, of Arbovale, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Born September 11, 1937, in Bartow, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Luther and Geneva Zula Rexrode Hoover.
Tommy was of the Methodist faith, a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Cass and was owner and operator of Ryder’s Store and Restaurant at Boyer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie A. Ryder, Sr.; three infant children; sisters, Bonnie Cogar, Thelma Cover, Bertha Plyler, Hilda Hoover, Maxine Hoover, Betty Lovelace and Nancy Hoover; and a brother, Harry Hoover.

She is survived by a son, Jimmie A. Ryder, Jr. (Rene); of Arbovale; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Ryder; and two sisters, Barbara “Susie” Murphy (Frank), of Arbovale, and Patricia Hiner, of Durbin.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale, with Pastor Julian Rittenhouse and Pastor David Plank officiating. Burial will follow in Boyer Cemetery.

Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale is in charge of arrangements.
