Velma Lee Smith-Lewis, age 79, of Salisbury, North Carolina, formerly of Droop Mountain, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the home of her daughter.
She was a daughter of the late Howard and Eskell Rudd.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl “Buddy” Smith; second husband, Harold “Shagg” Lewis; a daughter, Peggy Jane Hill; a son, Carl “Diddlehopper” Smith; and four brothers, Lawrence Rudd, Vernon Rudd, Howard Summers Rudd and Vaughan Austin Rudd.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Smith, of Marlinton, and Jimmy “George” Smith, and wife, Brenda, of Buckeye; a daughter, Velma Louise Jacobs, and husband, Mike, of Salisbury, North Carolina; three sisters, Faye Tuncalp, of Palm Springs, California, Ann Keene, of Renick, and Frances Kerns, of Hillsboro; five brothers, Doug Rudd, of Leavenworth, Washington, Darrell Rudd, of Lynnwood, North Carolina, Dallas Rudd, of Marlinton, Tim Rudd, of Hillsboro, and Harold Rudd, of Reno, Nevada; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Interment was in the Sharp Cemetery in Mill Point.
