Timothy Gay Pyles, age 70, passed on to farm the great hills of Heaven on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

Formerly of Pocahontas County, Timothy was born in Charleston, but settled and raised his family in Summersville.

He was a 1963 graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended West Virginia University, studying Agricultural Engineering.

Timothy’s smile and generous spirit will live on in all of us and we will cherish the many joyous memories and times spent talking everything from farming to mining.

He was preceded in death by his loving father and mother, Gay and Helen Pyles.

He is survived by two daughters, Gaylene Peyatt, and husband, Preston, of Canvas, and Sharyl Tate, and husband, Lee, of Concord, North Carolina; fiancée, Donna Gordon, of Chesapeake, Ohio; a brother, Bill Pyles, and wife, Norma, of Massachusetts; two sisters, Bonnie Harrison, and Jane May, and husband, Kenneth, all of Lenexa, Kansas; four very loved grandchildren, Chris Peyatt, and wife, Stephanie, of York, Nebraska, Eric Peyatt, and fiancée, Kaitlyn Murphy, of Summersville, David Tate and Kaylee Tate, both of Concord, North Carolina; a soon to be great-grandson, Landon Nathaniel, of York, Nebraska; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service is Saturday, February 28, at 2 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home in Summersville. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nicholas County 4-H Association.
