Steve Irvin

Alroy Steve Irvin, age 80 years, four months and 13 days, of Dixon, Missouri, departed this life Thursday, August 15, 2019, at his home.

Born April 2, 1939, at Brinktown, Missouri, he was a a son of the late Virgil Osbe, who passed away November 6, 1979, and Frances Regina Wieberg Irvin, who passed away March 13, 1997.

Steve served in the United States Navy from February 10, 1958, until he was honorably discharged on February 2, 1962, at Patuxent River, Maryland.

He was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason at Marlinton Lodge #127 A.F. & A.M. on April 18, 1998, and went on to the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd degree in Marlinton.

Steve was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, first in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4595 in Marlinton, then transferring to the Pulaski County Memorial Post No. 4238, after moving back to Dixon in 2017.

During his working life, Steve was a firefighter for the District of Columbia Fire Department from September 15, 1963, until retiring with the rank of Captain, Engine Company 13, on July 18, 1987, and was a member of the Firefighters Association, District of Columbia Local No 36.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Irvin, on January 22, 1997.

He is survived by his siblings, Forrest Irvin, and wife, Sherry, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Virginia Wright, and husband, Ron, of Columbia, Missouri, Wilda Landers, of Devil’s Elbow, Missouri, and Joyce Hickey, and A.J. Irvin, and wife, Donita, all of Dixon, Missouri; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held August 19 at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel in Dixon, Missouri. Interment was in the Fox Crossing Cemetery near Dixon, Missouri, with Military Rites by Dixon American Legion and a flag presentation by Barry Sharp.
