Stella Virginia Jackson Mundell, age 91, of Staunton, Virginia, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Augusta Health in Staunton, Virginia.

Born November 25, 1922, in Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late Dennis Jackson and Mary Moore Jackson.

Stella was employed for 20 years as a supervisor of Data Processing at American Security and Trust in Washington, D.C. After relocating to Staunton, Virginia, in the 1970s, she worked as a Nursing Assistant and CMT at Oak Hill Nursing Home for more than 25 years, retiring at the age of 85.

She enjoyed duck pin bowling, collecting Barbie dolls, Beanie Babies and vintage glassware. She also loved the volunteers from Meals on Wheels who gave her such companionship and stability in her later years.

On October 25, 1941, she married James Ray Mundell who preceded her in death on May 21, 1967.

She was the eldest and last surviving of six children. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Della Layman; sisters, Opal Weatherholt and Creola Boling; and brothers, Dennis Jackson, Jr., and Donald Jackson.

She is survived by three daughters, Drena Decker and Debra Mundell, both of Staunton, Virginia, and Diana Mundell, of Glen Burnie, Maryland; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2 p.m. at the Marquis Memorial Methodist Church, 1611 W Beverly Street in Staunton.
