Get out your swim gear and sunscreen – it’s time for June’s First Friday!

Friday, June 2, at Discovery Junction will be all about water. The splash pad is open and ready to cool off the masses with its fountains of H2O.

Those more interested in West Virginia waterways and their inhabitants will be pleased to know the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protecetion will have its mobile fish tank on display, showing just what you can expect to find in the rivers, lakes and creeks of the Mountain State.

The tank is the size of a sleeper camper with informational posters, pamphlets and, of course, plenty of water.

Musical entertainment for the evening will be local favorite Juanita Fireball and the Continental Drifters. Be sure to wear comfy shoes because it’s impossible not to dance when that group gets to playing.

Crafts and games for the kiddos will be available, and local businesses, including Pocahontas Memorial Hospital and Pendleton Community Bank, will have booths, as well as the Marlinton United Methodist Church.

The Farmers Market will be set up with fresh produce, baked goods and crafts, too.

It all kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Discovery Junction in Marlinton.

See you Friday!
