Snowshoe Mountain the number one ski resort in the Mid-Atlantic, will officially open for the 2013-2014 winter ski and snowboard season on Wednesday, November 27, – just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Kicking off their 40th season on November 27, the resort plans to open at least three lifts and about 10 trails its first day.

“We love being able to open in time for Thanksgiving,” said Snowshoe Marketing Director Dave Dekema. “We recognize that people are excited to get up on the mountain, and we are ready to get our fortieth season started.”

For the 2013-14 winter ski season, the resort will introduce a radical re-design of its teaching terrain intended to make learning to ski and ride simpler, more intuitive and enjoyable. The resort plans to launch two new Terrain Based Learning areas in mid-December.

Additionally, Snowshoe is planning a blowout birthday party weekend in December to kick off its 40th birthday. Festivities include discounts on skiing and riding, dance and hot tub parties, on-snow games, costume contests and a live concert by the quintessential funk/soul artists of the 1970s and 1980s, The Commodores.
