A United States Postal Service safety officer has completed observations at the Slaty Fork Post Office and made recommendations to its landlord there. It is hoped that the actions of the landlord will lead to the reopening of the office in the near future.
The office has been closed for several weeks due to a snake infestation.
Post office box holders and others needing to conduct business have been required to travel to Marlinton while this issue is being addressed.
