Shelia Lorraine Bennett Rexrode, 73, of Durbin, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 20, 2025, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family.

Born Saturday, August 18, 1951, in Elkins, she was a daughter of the late Frank Bennett and Frances Hedrick Bennett.

On Friday, May 15, 1970, in Monterey, Virginia, she married Charlie Allen Rexrode who preceded her in death June 27, 2010.

Shelia was a 1969 graduate of North Carroll High School in Hampstead, Maryland. She had worked as a caregiver for Home Health and as a personal caregiver for many years. She was employed at Snowshoe Resort as a reservationist for more than 15 years before retiring.

Shelia loved her grandchildren more than anything. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, reading, taking walks and spending time with her family. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Carr; and a brother, Jim Bennett.

Left to cherish Shelia’s memory are two daughters, Allison (Travis) Taylor, of Durbin, Tara (Charles) Kirchner, of Culpeper, Virginia; grandchildren, Travis (Marka) Taylor and Kelsi (Garrett) Taylor, all of Durbin, and Charles and Sean Kirchner, of Culpeper, Virginia; great-granddaughter, Addison Taylor, of Durbin; sisters, Donna (Don) Nicely, of Boyer, and Kim (Kevin) Rugemer, of Elkins; brother, Frank (Terry) Bennett, of Huttonsville; sisters-in-law, Valinda Bennet, of Frank, and Jackie Hudak, of Aldie Virginia; dear friend, Jean Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pocahontas Senior Care, Mountain Hospice, and especially Linda Curry for providing the great care she received these past few years. Through every stage of her long battle with dementia, Shelia would always smile and be her sweet, caring, and soft-hearted self.

Shelia’s request for cremation was honored. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

At her request, her ashes will be spread with her husband’s ashes on Back Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 13453 Back Mt. Rd., Durbin, WV 26264.

The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Shelia Lorraine Bennett Rexrode. Send online condolences to the family at www.therandolphfuneralhome.com
