Last week, Fort Warwick in Green Bank hosted a Cal Price Appalachian Enrichment Program archeological dig with students from Green Bank Elementary-Middle School, Pocahontas County High School and Marlinton Middle School participating. Above, Dr. Kim McBride and fellow dig experts show MMS students how to properly sift through the dirt to find artifacts. S. Stewart photos
During the dig, Fort Warwick owner Bob Sheets took the students on a tour of the Warwick cemetery and shared the history of the families buried there. Sheets also showed the students his maple sugar shack.
At left, Sheets’ great pyrenees Susie greeted students as soon as the school bus parked. While Sheets boarded the bus to welcome the students, Susie patiently waited for her turn to meet them.
