Samuel Hull Beverage, age 70, of Ona, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at his home.
Born October 4, 1947, in Durbin, he was a son of the late Samuel Clark and Alma Cromer Beverage.
Samuel retired with 30 years of service with the Department of Highways in West Virginia and Kentucky and also worked for Hinkle Contracting Company.
He served as Commissioner of Highways and Secretary of Transportation under Governor Cecil Underwood. Following his retirement, he was a volunteer with the Tri-State Literacy Council with the Cabell County Library.
He is survived by his wife, Lorena Lynn Beverage; sons, Jason Beverage, and wife, Erica, of Bridgeport, and their children, Mara and Harper, and Dr. Michael Beverage, of Orlando, Florida; a daughter, Susan Hendricks, and her daughter, Olivia Hendricks; a brother, Chester Cromer; and a sister, Jocelyn Wolfe.
Funeral service was held September 1 at Wallace Funeral Home in Milton with Pastor Ron Burnsworth officiating.
