Ruth Hiner

Ruth Amy Hiner, age 74, of Ocean View, Delaware, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, with her family by her side.

Born in 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the only daughter of the late Bertram and Ruth Rill.

Amy was a longtime member of Ocean View Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Deacons. She was an active advocate for the Immune Deficiency Foundation and the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.

She is survived by her loving husband, Edsel “Ed” Hiner, formerly of Cass; a daughter, Laura Jednorski; a son, David Jednorski, and wife, Teresa; grandson, Justin Jednorski; a granddaughter, Cristy McNear, and husband, Jeremy; and four great-grandchildren, Devin Jednorski, Davin McNear, Kaleigh McNear and Scarlett McNear.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 10, at Ocean View Presbyterian Church, 67 Central Avenue, Ocean View, DE. Private interment will be held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Amy’s name to the Immune Deficiency Foundation, 40 W. Chesapeake Avenue, Suite 308, Towson, MD 21204; the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, PO Box 665, Crownsville, MD 21032; or the Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
