Ruby Jaynne Kerr Vance was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She left this world Thursday, February 22, 2024, at age 75.

Born April 14, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marjorie Kerr.

After graduating from Green Bank High School, Jaynne moved to Roanoke, Virginia, where she fell in love and married her husband, Sherrill Wayne Vance.  Together they settled in Salem, Virginia, where they raised their daughter, Dana, started a small business and built strong ties with their southwestern Virginia community.

Jaynne valued family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with her parents, brothers and sisters as well as the Vance family on her husband’s side.  She loved coming back to her hometown of Green Bank to spend time on the farm or enjoy a weekend at the hunting cabin, watching generations of Kerrs grow up in the great outdoors.  Jaynne was a wonderful cook and took great pride in contributing to holiday gatherings, such as the Fourth of July celebrations and Thanksgiving dinners held on the mountain each year.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Sherrill Wayne Vance; sisters, Jolene Lantz and Donna Kay Kerr Dean; brother, Joe Philmore Kerr; and three nephews, Kirklyn McNeer Kerr II, Trent Ashley Kerr and Travis Leighton Kerr.

She is survived by sisters, Dians Lawton Sharp and Jeanne Hevener; brothers, Dr. Kirklyn McNeer Kerr, Jerry Edward Kerr and Joseph Beard (JB) Kerr Jr.; daughter, Dana Michelle Vance Rodgers, and husband, Andrew; three granddaughters, Kayla Marie Rodgers Amos, Ryan Ashley Rodgers and Brenna Alexis Rodgers; and three great-grandchildren, Madison, Ethan and Evelyn Amos.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Liberty Presbyterian Church in Arbovale with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating, followed by a graveside service at Arbovale Cemetery Annex.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any Pocahontas County charity on her behalf.

Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale is serving the family.
