Roscoe Moyers

Roscoe Eugene Moyers, age 81, of Bartow, and formerly of Hightown, Virginia, departed this life Sunday, December 28, 2014.
Born November 3, 1933, he was a son of the late John Wilber and Cathleen Edith Duncan Moyers.
Roscoe was a retired logger and farmer. He attended Calvary Gospel Church and was a member of the Bear Hunters Club.
The things Roscoe enjoyed most in life were bear hunting and time spent on the family farm in Hightown, Virginia, where he was born and raised.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Eugene Moyers; an infant grandson, Jeffrey Moyers; and two infant great-grandsons, Jordan and Riley Moyers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Alice White Moyers; two daughters, Peggy Stull and Ida Moyers, both of Bartow; three sons, Charles “Ralph” Moyers, of Romney, Elbert Moyers, and wife, Carmen, of Franklin, and Keith Moyers, and wife, Cindy, of Durbin. Roscoe cherished time spent with his 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, along with a host of children and young adults throughout the community who all referred to his as “Paw.” He is also survived by a brother, Ronnie Moyers, and wife, Sandy, of Hightown, Virginia; and two sisters, Madeline Galford, of Dunmore, and Emogene Tidd, and Bud Cook, of Monterey, Virginia.
Family will receive friends December 30, 5 p.m. at the Calvary Gospel Church in Durbin; and December 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service December 31 at 1 p.m. with Minister Larry Carr officiating. Interment will be in the Arbovale Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Tom Dickenson, Troy Rabel, Steve Dilley, Brian Fields, Tom Warner and Shawn Carr. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
