Roberta Miller Smith, age 74, of Staunton, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, surrounded by her family, at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, after a short battle with leukemia.
Born March 31, 1940, at Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Clara Herrington Miller.
Roberta was a 1958 graduate of Marlinton High School. She worked in the insurance industry for many years. She was always an insatiable reader with a passion for crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert H. Miller; and her sister, Judy Miller Ramsey.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Smith, of Staunton, Virginia; two daughters, Lisa Smith, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Emmy Rusyniak, of Richmond, Virginia; three nieces; and one nephew.
Family will receive friends Thursday, June 5, 1 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
